Massimo Palanca, a name that makes the fans of Avellino tremble, was a true myth for Catanzaro. The 'Golden Foot' wrote memorable pages with the yellow-red jersey and lived an intense life in Catanzaro. "It was my life", says Palanca. "I arrived at 21 years old, I was still a young boy. There I got married and my son was born. Catanzaro gave me everything: fame and friendships that I still bring with me today.". Palanca recalls the challenges at Avellino's Partenio and the historic promotion of the Calabrians to Serie A. "The promotions to Serie A are the most beautiful moments of my career", says Palanca. "But there's also another aspect that I carry inside: friendships. For me playing in the south was formative: not only from a sporting point of view, but also from a human point of view. My best friends are all Calabrians, I met them when I was nobody.". Palanca also talks about his life outside of football. "I'm a poor devil, I live day by day, in the province, far from the big cities. But in the evening, when I go home, Catanzaro becomes Paris, Rome, New York. I'll be a bit crazy but it's like that".
